Applying for STAR Rating Renewal

If your STAR Rating with Alabama Quality STARS is set to expire in 2025, you will need to apply for a new assessment!

Renewing requires applying for a new Alabama Quality STARS Assessment

  • Log back into AlaCEED: https://provider.alaceed.alabama.gov/.

  • If you have forgotten your password, you can click on the “Request One-Time Log-In Code link” to receive a code in your email to log in with.

  • Please make sure to update your password under “My Profile” when you login to the dashboard.

Click on the “QRIS” tab and select the “+ Request” button.

  • A small form that asks for location should come up. Click on the name of your location on the “Location” area.

  • Even if it automatically shows the name of your location, you must click on the name of the location to trigger the next step.

  • Go to “Type” and select the following:

  • If your license begins with “L” is an Exempt “Excepted” program, select Day Care Centers- Assessment
    If your license begins with “F”, select Family Daycare Home-Assessment
    If your license begins with “G”, select “Group Daycare Home-Assessment

  • If the type says “No Data Available,” please go back and make sure you click in the box with the name of your location to fully select it.

  • Click “Create” and fill out and submit the application.*

Once you submit your application, it will go to DHR for review. Once DHR reviews the application, they will send the report back and a specialist will be assigned to you. They will reach out to set up an assessment date.

What can you do to prepare?

  1. Complete the orientation again under the “Learning” tab in AlaCEED to refresh yourself on our process.
  2. Make sure your documentation is up-to-date
  3. Visit our links to access our most up-to-date documents for your licensing type.  We have made some adjustments to our rubric and process since 2022, so downloading these will be helpful for you to prepare for and gather any other documentation that may not have been required in 2022.

If a provider does not wish to renew their higher STAR Rating at this time or they do not apply before their rating expires, their STAR Rating will be reduced to a STAR 1. They will be able to reapply for a higher STAR rating after 6 months.
